Hi. I am going to visit Stavanger (especially Preikestolen) in June. I am a student and it will be very lowcost trip :) I want camp in tent but not in official camping. I read that I can camp almost anywhere. Is there any suitable place in Stavanger city? Thanks

I politely suggest you familiarise yourself with the concept of freedom to roam While it does grant you access (including camping rights) to certain areas (generally speaking: uncultivated land) it does not give you the right to camp "almost anywhere", and mos def not within a (by Norwegian standards) densely populated city. In the forest areas near Preikestolen (which is at least an hour's travel by boat and car from Stavanger) you may camp under certain restrictions; in town, forget about it.
