Hello All,
Next June, me and 3 friends are looking to walk the 141 km Troms border trail from Galgujav'ri near the Finnish border to Innset near Sætermoen.

Can anyone help with some transport advice on getting to the start? I understand a finnish bus runs from Tromso to the border along the E8. Where can I see the timetable for this route?

Also, when we finish at Innset, where can I see bus timetables to Sætermoen and then on to Tromso?

I tried the Nor-way bussekspress but could not find the info I was after.

Does anyone else have info about this trail? Does it get muddy in the summer?
All tips and info are appreciated.
Cheers!
Gilbert

Hey,

That sounds like an amazing trip you have planned. I believe you are looking for the Finnish company Eskelinsen Lapin Linjat. Their route 004 (Tromso - Nordkjosbotn - Skibotn - Kilpisjärvi - Karesuvanto - Palojoensuu - Muonio - Levi - Kittilä - Rovaniemi) seems to run along E8. You can visit their website here - http://www.eskelisen-lapinlinjat.com/en/index.php

The bus from Setermoen to Tromsø has several departures each day (originates from Narvik). You can find the timetable here - http://www.tromskortet.no/Ruter/Rutetabeller/Rutetabellerbussregionaleruter/tabid/643/language/nb-NO/Default.aspx (route 100). Please note that summer schedules have not been published yet.

I spent a year at Setermoen during 2000/2001, when I served in the Norwegian army. There is some amazing scenery in the area, so I'm sure you guys will have some wonderful experiences. Have a great trip!

Regards Herlov.
