Like muminmamma we have travelled with our kids from a very young age, doing all kinds of activities and staying in all manner of places - cars, trains, hotels, camping, cabins. We cycled for six months across New Zealand with a 2 and 4 year old camping, hostelling and cabins so believe me it is all possible with right mindset and a little preparation! Although as johnthefinn says be mindful of conditions and how comfortable or otherwise you will be. Cabins can be easier than tents with toddlers, especially in colder conditions. Saves all that rigging and derigging with toddlers 'helping' and all that 'don't touch the sides' business. In our experience kids are pretty flexible and adaptable, the limitations are more in the parents mind. With the right attitude, skills, patience and precautions you can go almost anywhere you want with a kid.
