Hello,
My friends and i will be staying at the Thon Hotel Highland in Geilo for a week in June - As i understood it's located on the main road, near the railway station...Has anyone stayed there? How is the hotel?

Also,
- What can we expect of Geilo in June in terms of weather?
- Will it be crowded with visitors?

If you have any info to share regarding Geilo and the Thon Hotel Highland, in particular, that would be great.
Cheers' everyone :-)

It's across the road from the station. Thon defines it as a conference hotel, so a little better than Thon budget. Geilo is a winter sport resort, so summers are not that busy although loads of people in Bergen and Oslo have cabin or holiday house there.

Geilo is 800 meters above sea on the edge of the great plateau, so a bit cooler than further down the valley (where summers are warm). June is dry, temperatures 5-25 degrees Celsius.

If it is the old hotel of Geilo, the railroad came first, then the hotel. It's still popular with train travellers.

Snowfall in May is not that uncommon on the 800 m level and rain can easily be expected any time of the year when it is not winter. That said, it can also be sunny and quite warm.
