Hi,

I am trying to find out how much a round trip bus journey from Oslo to Stavanger (May 28 - May 31) will cost. I went to the Norway Bussekspress website and they indicate that I will have to purchase the ticket on board. While I can understand that, what is confusing me is the fact that I get the same notification no matter which dates I enter in May, June or July. (I tried about 5-6 random dates). Surely, not all the online tickets for these months would be sold out already? I am being able to see the prices for other routes like Oslo - Bergen, but somehow not for Oslo - Stavanger.

Also, is it true that buying online tickets in advance will be cheaper than buying it at the bus terminal itself?

Thanks a lot

Harsh

I don't know why, but on some routes it is not possible to buy tickets online at all. Then you just have to turn up at the bus stop, and buy the ticket on the bus. But the bus is never full, if it is full, they will send another bus.

For travelling from Oslo to Stavanger, you have to change buses in Kristiansand. For the first bus from Oslo to Kristiansand, you can buy the tickets online, the price list says 350kr for this one, a little discounted if bought online. The second bus from Kristiansand to Stavanger it seems like it's not possible to buy online, price list says 380kr.

I recommend looking at www.lavprisekspressen.no instead. It's another bus company, they have cheaper tickets for this route, seems to be maximum 399kr. From this company it is advisable to book online as soon as possible to get the cheapest tickets.

Personally, I would never take a bus for this trip. I would choose the train! I find it more comfortable :) www.nsb.no For your dates it is also possible to get the cheap minipris tickets, which means 199kr og 299kr each way.
