... and some summers I have hiked the mountains, walking from lake to lake, fishing, and not had a single bite.. By the way, it migth be worth having some bites, as long as you are not hyper allergic, it is not a healthrisk, they itch but are gone in aprox. 2-4 days. Use a mosquito-repellent, a fish-hat with mossi-net if you are planning to stand still hours at end, as in lake or river-fishing. There are LOTS of norwegian living in the inland, and they manage just fine. I always bring vistiting friends to the inland areas, preferably the mountains. Never has been a problem. Just don't fall asleep late afternoon without repellent, no net, in a wetland-area just before a thunderstorm, that migth be a "itchy- bitesy" problem....
