Hey there!

Is Norway in a nutshell possible to do in February? If so can I do it in 2 full days? Any suggestions on itineraries please, e.g. where to stay for the night (cheaper better). Any input would greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

2 full days? Have you checked out a map lately...Norway's mainland alone is over 2500km long.

The Norway In A Nutshell trip is a one day circular tour that can be done from Bergen, Voss and other starting points and is one of the most popular trips to do in Norway - one of the reasons why I've been on it three times!

For the benefit of Matty Boy, the trip usually involves an early train from Bergen, then a bus from Voss, then a ferry trip from Gudvangen to Flam and then onto the Flam railway to Myrdal where you can head back to Bergen or Voss or onward towards Oslo.... You won't believe the amount of snow you'll see on the train journey to Oslo, particularly around Finse. Potential for stopover would be in Flam - check the Visit Norway website for some suggestions...

The journey gives you a good idea of what the rest of Norway can be like - not saying that Norway can be addictive, but my road trip in July 2011 was my 11th visit to the country... and my girflriend's second.

Hope that you have some good cold weather gear for the trip and plenty of cards for the camera too! I've had gloves freeze in seconds whilst in Norway for cross country ski trips in February before (always carry 3 pairs) and can click away with a camera like nobody's business.

Trying to persuade GF to head over to Norway in the winter in 2012 or 2013 to either Geilo or Lillehammer for either sightseeing or XC skiing!

yes! you can definitely do it! i followed rick steve's norway in a nutshell and took the train from oslo towards bergen, hopping off to take the train down to flam. i also went in february and it was BEAUTIFUL. snow everywhere. after the fjord part you can catch a train straight back to oslo that night for an ambitious 16-24hr nutshell day out of oslo. or you can stay over in bergen, etc. ...the person above me looks to have outlined the exact cities/route/stops

I do wonder why would you want to do this?

Because it's there... and it really gives you the essence of Norway in one day of travelling.

Don't knock it until you've tried it!
