Hii all,
I've never been to norway before so know very little but what i do know is that it looks like an interesting & beautiful country...
Myself and my friend are stopping off at Osla on a saturday morning (ryanair flight to rygge airport) & leaving again Sunday Night (Same Airport) mid- May 2010.
The last thing we want to do is be stuck in a city so can anyone suggest any exciting and interesting day trip that we could do (on a budget) ??
All suggestions are welcome!!

Norways nature is beautiful. Unfortunately you have no chacne of seeing the spectacular fjords or the semiarctic north on 2 half days from the airport you have chosen.
The to obvious things is naturally to travel on to Oslo and see a few of the usual "must-sees" in the capital. Alternative is to stay in the area you have chosen to fly into and visit the local highlights (Halden town with Frederiksten fortress, Frederikstad town and Moss town) in Østfold (name of the region) - Rygge is the same as "Moss airport": http://www.visitnorway.com/uk/Stories/Norway/East/Ostfold/

To my mind the biggest 'Must See' in Olso is the Viking ship Museum, the ships there are for me one of the most beautifull things made by mankind. Even if you are not a 'Museum' type person, i urge you to see them.
Rygge really is about as far as you can get from the best of norwegian nature while still in Norway, I'm afraid. My bet would be a day trip's worth of sight seeing in Oslo.
Still, if you insist on going natural, there are some nice islands in Oslofjorden. So with a bit of luck with the weather you may have a nice day out at Hvaler, or some place like that.
(PS Mid-May - are you here the 17th by any chance? National day is celebrated in Norway the 17th of May, it's a pretty unique experience - go for it if you can!)
