Hi there,
My partner and I are hiring a car for a 9 day for a road trip in Norway in mid-June. We're overwhelmed with how many things we'd like to see and having a hard time judging distances and travel times (we're used to wide open australian roads)! so we're looking for some advice on a suitable itinerary. We're thinking of two options:

the first would be to drive from Oslo to Jotunheimen, around Sognal, to Bergen and then back across to Oslo via Flam and Geilo. I've got a few questions aboutt his:
-will the Sognefjellet Rd be open at that time of year?
-will it be possible to bike the Rallavergen from Finse to Flam, or is it too early in the season?

or the second option would be to drive from Oslo to Bergen (with a stop around Flam) then down the coast to Stavanger (we want to see Preikestolen), up to Lysebotn and back to Oslo.

It's a pretty broad question but wanted to know if anyone has done similars trip in a similar timeframe and whether or not it's possible to fit everything in. We want to have plenty of time for some day / half day hikes and sightseeing. So, what would be best, the north or the south route?

Thanks, I appreciate your help!

Would probably go for option A. Sognefjell road usually opens end of April and you will go past Jostedal Glacier on your way to Flåm and Bergen, you might be able to go to Preikestolen as well in your timeframe, althought would probably skip the Lysefjord. Or go in direction of Odda, Haukeli mountain and Rjukan going back.

Rallarveien by bike is too early in the season, would not advise going until july
