Longyearbyen, where to spend the wee hours of the night

We will be going to Longyearbyen next year and everything is more or less arranged. The last night (well, morning) though, we have a flight at 4.50AM to Oslo. Now, we find it ridiculous to book a hotel or guest house for just a few hours. On the other hand, we don't feel like freezing our asses of the streets either. So, is there any place in Longyearbyen where we could spend the evening and, like I said, the wee hours of the night before going to the airport? A pub, a restaurant, anything? Depending on the type of venue, we might also need to store our luggage somewhere. Or is the Longyearbyen airport open 24 hours? :)

For our first night when we arrive (and the last when we get back) we'd need transportation to the airport. Is there a bus or something, or should we take a taxi?

Copy and paste from the the email sent to me by Spitsbergen Hotel :

"Airport shuttle is available at all arrivals and departures. Tickets are NOK 50,- per person (to be paid cash in NOK). If you prefer a taxi, that’s also an alternative. Appr. NOK 150,- - 200,- for the transport from the airport to the hotel."

There are pubs open till 2 or 3 am, and then you are just in time to walk to the airport (4km) to sober up. No one is going to think twice about it if you bring backpacks to a bar, or stack it outside the bar.

There is also a campsite next to the airport, you can pay the tenting fee and just stay inside the house. (open 24hours and there is almost always someone preparing for trips and so on.)

(There is also a bus to/from the airport for every flight.)

We're back home from a fantastic trip and I justed wanted to answer my own question because it might help feature travellers.

In Longyearbyen is a church which is open 24/7. The church has a very cosy lounge area where you can sit and rest. We even slept a few hours there. It has sofas, books, magazines, coffee, cakes, toilets and a souvenir shop. It's quite and peaceful and was perfect for us.
