My boyfriend and I are planning a week in Norway between June 27 and July 4. Our goal is to soak up as much scenery as possible - while on a budget and living out of backpacks (camping, packing in our own food). At first we were planning to go to Jotunheimen, but this is his first trekking trip and my experience in more challenging hikes is not that extensive, so we've scratched that plan.
Both of us are in reasonably good shape, although we live in Southern Sweden so mountainous (or even hilly!) terrain will be a bit foreign. I've been looking around this forum and the Norwegian Trekking Association page for hikes and I thought Finse to Flåm might be doable (and a little more realistic given our experience levels). However, we are very open to other suggestions should anyone have any. I know some people set up a base camp and then do day hikes out from there (exploring fjords and what have you), but where are these optimal base camp locations? I also have to admit that the options in Norway for hiking are completely overwhelming, any recommendations are very, very welcome.
Thanks in advance!
