Hi guys,
I am going to be in Haugesund for 4 days in June. What would one do in the area?

Depends. Can you spend these days as you choose or is your visit work-related? Haugesund is a pleasant place, but save for the spectacularly kitschy town hall there's not very much to see. If you rent a car, however, there's plenty of sights/activities within a few hours drive of there. Let me know if this is an option for you, and I'll be happy to provide some suggestions.

Go to Åkrafjorden and see the beautiful Langfossen waterfall (named one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls by CNN.
In Åkrafjorden there are also lots of other activities, like bungee jumping. Read more here: http://www.visithaugesund.no/en/Akrafjorden/.
Åkrafjorden is a little over one hour from Haugesund by car. It is also possible to go there by bus.

Spend a day or an afternoon by Smedasundet, and enjoy shrimps and beer by the sea while people- watching!
But what you really should do (if you can afford to rent a car) is to spend a day or two at nearby island Karmøy You can find more information at http://www.visithaugesund.no/en/
I would recommend to check out beautiful Skudeneshavn on the very southern tip of Karmøy, the western beaches in Åkrehamn and the viking- settlement in Avaldsnes. Also, the copper- mining museum in Visnes is a nice place.
Also, nearby Åkrafjorden is a very nice area, and easily accesed by car.
If you want to check out coastal culture, you could go by boat to Utsira. The ferry can be a bit of a rough ride if the weather is bad, but the island is a fun visit that not many fellow travellers will have experienced!
Enjoy, let me know if you still have questions!
