Maybe you have a wrong credotcard - or live in the wrong country
I pay no commission and rates that are max 1.5% off from the central rate of exchange and max 5€ on 250€ cash which is MUCH less than the 5-10 that the exchange rate for cash is off from the official rate.

I do not know Bjoern. I am Spanish and now I am leaving in France. But with my French bank, every time I take money from a cash machine or I pay with a Credit Card a pay a lot in commissions. So, I think maybe it is better to change in Paris in a money exchange shop better that pay commissions every time I take money from a cash machine or I pay with a credit card. The rate in these places is between 8,30 - 8-40. I checked at oanda website and these days the official rate for one euro is between 8,.55 - 8,66. So, I suppose 8,30-8,40 as you told me must be a good deal

Get a better card!!! I pay no commissions or fees when I get cash from an ATM, only a monthly fee, about EUR 2. So maybe time to shop around a bit?!
