Are there any cafe-theaters in Oslo where we can have a snack and a drink while watching a musical show, something we may enjoy without knowing the language?

Thanking you in advance.

There is not much going in the way of theatre in Olso for tourists - especially with cafe settings. Sometimes culture houses put on special 'low-key' events known as 'theatre-cafe'. It would be best for you to pick an event with a band or singing group so you can enjoy it as much as Norwegians. Norwegians are very big on comedy (they are always in Norwegian though) but you need to know the 'in-house' jokes in order to appreciate it.

Basically, you would come to Norway to NOT see theatre but nature and culture. If you want theatre just fly across the pond to London (a lot of Norwegians even do this!)

Thank you. What we were actually looking for was a place with Norwegian folk music (singers, fiddle), where we could have a drink/snack.
We are actually planning to enjoy both nature and culture in Norway!

Oh - ok. Well, here are some links to the Norwegian folk and dance site which talks about a place to go:

I'm sure if you contact these guys they will know what is happening around town.

But the Folkemusikk.no site has a "kalendar" in the middle of the page that might show performances in Oslo during your stay. (The site is in Norwegian though but I'm sure you could use google translate.):
