HI

In mid- Aug. 2010 I am traveling to Norway....had few Qs -

  1. From Mo I Rana to Bodo - Can I travel by ferry/boat? How long will it take? I checked the flight it takes only 30 mins. Enough of flights, want to try ferries/boat.

  2. Bodo to Sto - I am planning to do Whale Safari which starts from Sto. I wanted to know if I stay at Bodo, how do I travel to Sto? and how long will it take? and if there are ferries, do I need to make prior bookings?

  1. It's possible to take the Hurtigruten (coastal ferry) from Nesna til Bodø. This boat leaves Nesna 05.25 in the morning... and arrive Bodø 12.30

The bus from Mo i Rana to Nesna, is 1.5hrs, timetable here: http://www.177nordland.no/ruter/t/18-331.aspx

Train is the easier option, http://www.nsb.no, about 3hrs.

  1. Bus timetables can be found here: http://www.veolia-transport.no/vesteraalen/category202.html
You are interested in 22-761 Bodø-Fauske-Sortland (7hrs) and 18-862 Sortland-Myre-Stø (1.5hrs). Leaving Bodø at 07:00, you can be in Stø at 16:45.
No need to make prior bookings.
    I don't know about ferries.
