Hi all

I'll be going to Iceland for 3 days on the 24th Jan with friends and considering how limited time is i'm wondering how much we can see. We plan to spend one full day in Reykjavik, as for the second day was wondering if it's possible to combine the Blue Lagoon and Gullfoss and Geysir in one day, i've seen tours that do it, but i'm worried that it may seem too rushed. I'm also concerned that half of the tour will be done in ptich blackness, how many hours of sunlight is there at present???

Hi

My Girlfriend and a friend are going to be in Rekyjavik for a three week Medical School placement in August. Does anyone know where they could find a room in a private room to rent for the period? Ideally they're looking for a twin room with meals thrown in with someone who speaks a bit of English so they can experience the culture at the same time as studying. As they're students they're looking for all of this as cheap as humanly possible.

I know that's a big ask but if anyone has any…

Hi all,

We're planning a holiday in Iceland for July 2009. After a hike of several days, we want to pick up a rental car at a location away from the listed locations of the rental companies (Skogar). Has anyone ever arranged such a deal? Does anyone know a rental car company in Iceland that delivers a rental car at a hotel?

Thanks

My husband and I are looking at spending a week in Iceland at the beginning of July. We are hoping to do things as cheaply as possible such as hosteling/camping and cooking for ourselves. What sort of temp can we expect in July? Also Where is the best (and cheapest!) place to hire a car from? We are looking to spend a couple of days in reykjavik and then drive out to the blue lagoon, waterfalls and geysers. Should we spend more time in reykjavik and what are the 'Must See' sights?
Any…

I will be going to Iceland in March this year. It seems that many service providers in Iceland only accept credit cards and not debit cards over the internet. Do you know if this is true when using my card to pay in Iceland? Thanks for your help.

I'm thinking about visiting Iceland this summer and was considering taking a photo tour. Has anyone every done this before and can they recommend someone? I would be looking for a multi-day tour that combines travel and photography. There's a photographer named Harry Nowell offering a tour, but I don't know anything about him: http://www.harrynowell.com/workshops/photo_tour_iceland.htm

Any ides?
Thanks in advance

Hi all,

I'm planning to go to iceland next summer in august (17th - 31st). My first plans were to hire a normal car for the whole trip (because we're on a budget), drive along the ringroad and see what is to be seen.
Now, I'm thinking about renting a 4x4 for a couple of days (3/4), return it, and then hire the economy class car.
That way, i can see a little bit of the interiour of iceland and I would be still within my budget range.

So my question is: If we rent the 4x4 in Keflavik for let us…

I am going to spend a couple of weeks with my family (three children 15-11-9) in Iceland next August, exploring the interior with our Defender. Because of the particular climatic conditions (rain, wind, cold), should tent and sleeping bags have any specific requirements/characteristics?

Hello all,

My fiance and I are traveling to Iceland mid-March for a week. In addition to the standard sights (Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon), we're hoping to get out a little to see the country. Two categories of questions Do you have suggestions for things we should do that are mid-March appropriate? Do you have suggestions for ways to travel? (Is driving safe/advisable in March?)

We like to hike and ski and see historical sights. We love nature.

Thank you so much for your time and feedback. We…

I'm going to Iceland next month and am having trouble buying Krona at anything other than dreadful rates well below what the bank websites suggest the exchange rate should be. I appreciate why this is, but also don't want to get ripped off. Does anyone know if you can buy things in Euros in many places in Iceland (Rejkjavik area mainly)? I think you can for example pay in euros at the Blue Lagoon but what about shops, restaurants, bars etc? Thanks
