Hi,

I'm heading to Iceland between the 14th and 21st October and just have a few questions!

1) We (me and a friend) are intending to hire a 2WD car and do a circuit of the island in the 7 days we are there (staying in hostels). I've driven on unmade/gravel roads in Tasmania in Autumn in a Hyundai Getz and had no problems and am just wondering whether it's feasible in Iceland? Obviously I won't be going anywhere near a road that requires a 4WD!

2) This may be seem like a stupid question but it…

Hi,

We had a wonderful holiday in Iceland in August and hired a car from Atak twice. They were honest and great and I would thoroughly recommend using them!

Hi everyone,

I'm flying to from Minneapolis to London on Wednesday, and I have almost 10 hours between my flights at Keflavik Airport that happen to fall on my 22nd birthday, which I'd rather not spend in the airport. I'd like to check out the Blue Lagoon but am having difficulty finding a tour bus that goes directly from Keflavik Airport to the beach and back in that amount of time, especially this late in the season. Do you know if it is reasonable for me to take a taxi from the airport to…

I'm thinking about a trip to Iceland around end Oct / early November 09 for 1 week. I know it will be winter and days will be short, plan to hire a car and tour around the southern areas. Is it a waste of time to go in November? or is it still worthwhile making the trip?

I'm from Scotland so have a fair idea of what to expect from the shorter days.

Hello all!
My fiance and I are travelling to Iceland the week of May 3-9, 2010 for our honeymoon.
We are spending the first two nights in Reykjavik, but are not sure what to do or where to go afterwards.

If anyone has some suggestions of beautiful places and cheap accomodations, that would be wonderful. We are open to basically everything but camping.

Whatever help you could offer would be spectacular!!

Hello,

I'm basing myself in Reykjavik from the 13th to 16th of September, and I'm desperate to get to Jökulsárlón. Problem is no tours are going to Jökulsárlón during that time, and I don't drive. I was wondering if there was any other way I could get there without spending a fortune on domestic flights? If anyone's heading out at that time could I hitch a ride there and back with you? Happy to help with fuel costs. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I've read plenty of post and reviews about accommodations in Iceland but I would like to rent a car for a day or two and camp out. I'm not sure what the rules and regulations are of parking on the side of the roads are and setting up a tent is. Is this even a logical plan to carry out mid September? I'd like to stay a fefew nights in hostels so that I can meet some people and maybe meet some travel buddies, unfortunately I'm having difficulty finding a hostel for my first night…

Hi All,

I'm visiting Iceland from 11th to 21st September. The first 4 days will cover Reykjavik, The Golden Cirlce and Landmaanalugar. I was then planning to go west to Husafell (on the interior route), then to the Snaefellsness Peninsular, and finish with a couple of days on the West Fjords (Latrabjarg area).

Is this the best plan? Would heading east to Skaftafell be better?

I am interested in:

Beautiful scenery
Hiking - half to full day hikes
Doing some sort of activity - snow mobiling…
