HELP! Maybe I just need someone who's been there already to ease my mind--but I'm freaking out a little....

I'm planning on taking a trip to Iceland but am a bit worried about being able to get around during this time of year...even more since I don't drive I'd need to get everywhere by bus or plane (though I imagine bus would be cheaper...right?) 9 days, 8 nights is my plan--spending most of it in Reykjavik (staying in a hostel) but figuring at least one trip outside to spend a night or two…

I'm coming to Iceland from 5-10 October. Are there any other solo travellers there at the same time who would like to meet? I'm a 26 year old doctor from London, well-travelled, enjoys adventure sports and trips.

I was surprised at how expensive Golden Circle trips are! Can anyone recommend any budget trips?

We plan to spend 5 - 6 days in Iceland in mid-February 2010 with hope of seeing Northern Lights. We circled the country this past June and the return will be a "special birthday" present for an amateur astronomy fan. Good idea or bad? If good, where would we have best chance for clear weather, dark nights and a clear view of the horizon. If bad, is there a better time of year or should we skip Iceland and head for Norway. Thanks so much!

Hello I hope you can help. I have been using 2 books, looking online and I have searched the forums and am still scratching my head about a few things!

We (me and 1 other person) are coming for a week in early october.
Apart from getting to the blue lagoon from Reykjavik and then from the blue lagoon to airport i'm quite openminded about our itinerary. Definately want to do golden circle. And have one night booked at blue lagoon.
Otherwise have no plans as such.

But I have a few queries…

Three of us will be in Iceland from Oct 2 - Oct 6. It's our first time here, and would appreciate some advice. Following is our rough plan with specific questions - please feel free to respond to the questions, or comment on the whole plan.

** Background: We are experienced travelers in other parts of the world (mainly Asia, southern Europe) but first time in Iceland / Northern European region; enjoy both city as well as nature activities but not campers/hikers. Will be staying in a guesthouse…

Hello everyone,
I'm a middle school teacher from Baltimore. Last year, we travelled with our eighth graders to Leipzig, Germany and had a simply amazing experience staying with families from a middle school. We just happend to come across a teacher from that school earlier in the year to help us set everything up.
We'd like to visit Iceland and was wondering if anyone had any contacts with teachers/schools in that beautiful country. Also, I'm looking for specific recommendations for environmental…
