Hi,

I want to buy a prepaid card for my mobile phone in Reykjavik. I will use it during my two weeks holiday for data connection only. I found a service from Síminn provider: http://www.siminn.is/einstaklingar/farsiminn/verd/nanar/store466/item40744

May you please confirm that:

  • The SIM card is free, I will buy the credit to charge the card
  • The first 5 MB will cost 40 ISK and I must consume it during the same day or it will expire
  • The next 5 MB will cost another 40 ISK (I must consume…

Rent 4X4 ASAP in Akureyri

I'd like to know the name, (and location) of the car rental agency (simple 4X4) in Akureyri to rent a vehicle for a 2-3 week period, for a full ring road trip, (open saturdays). If you know the best priced agency, or someone else with a car (they wish to rent), please let me know the prices/conditions, thanks

p.s. if may be necessary to pick up the vehicle in akureyri, and return it in reykjavik.

In July my wife and I will drive around Iceland in a 2WD rental car. I have done lots of planning but cannot see the best way to get from Breiodalsvik to Egilsstadir. Should we go around the coast or up highway 1?? We don't have unlimited time but want to see as many of the beautiful natural sights as possible.
Secondly, do you think we will need to book ahead this year, given the volcano problems or should we able to get accomodation by just booking around lunchtime each day?
Thank you in…

Hi--we are an American/German couple with a lovely apartment by the sea in Reykjavik. We will be away most of the summer travelling around Iceland ourselves, so our apartment is empty for most of June and July. If anyone is interested in staying at our place, send me an email for more information at caitlin.meleney@gmail.com. Happy travels! Iceland is glorious in summer :)

Hi all,
I am travelling to Iceland this september 15th for 10 days. I would like to do some trek (if possible in the area of Thorsmork or Landmanalaugar) but I´ve been looking on line the bus schedule and stops operating before that dates.
I got the feeling that my options will be limited as I won´t have access to that area and others.
Also many buses stop doing the tourist routes before as well.

I am very intereste also in discovering the west fjords but I think the transport limitation is a…

Hello!

I would like to hike for one day (morning to evening) in the area of Hornvik, in the westfjords. I would like to walk up to the impressive Hornbjarg ridge and over there...

I've been having a look at the options of transport to this area. But, apparently, all the boats going from Isafjordur or Nordurfjordur to Hornstrandir area do not work everyday (not even in tourist season??) and the way they work doesn't allow to walk for some hours and go back the same day. For example, the boat…

Hi,

My friend and I booked a trip to Iceland from june 21 - july 2. Another friend of us is studying in Reykjavik, so we will be paying him a visit, but we also plan on traveling around the island for about 8 days ... Since we are both students (20 & 21 years old), we would like to keep our trip as cheap as possible.
We want to rent a car for 8 days, but since it's pretty expensive, it could be interesting to share a car. We haven't decided on our tour itinerary yet, but we will probably be…

Yes, yes, yes... I am reading through the other posts here and have garnered some good information! But here is my specific set of questions:

I have 48 hours in Iceland. I am thinking of bringing a tent, renting a car, seeing as much of the country as I can in my short visit.

  1. Suggestions for a cheap but reliable car rental?

  2. Suggested itinerary - what should I not miss?

  3. Suggested spots for pitching my tent? Hidden gem campsites?

  4. Any good concerts on either…
