Hi All

Have read most of the posts on the first 15 pages of TT and found a lot of great suggestions.

But now I have some questions tailored to my particular trip

Airport to Reyk - Is there a local bus we can take rather than a taxi or the transfer bus? Is there a website I could look at in English?

We will have Reyk as our base, and use Tours to see the country - we don't mind paying for this, as its just two of us and we kind of want the "thinking" done for us!
I've been looking at REYKJAVIK EXCURSIONS - and they seem to do a lot of the tours we are interested in - but my question: Is it better/cheaper to book in advance in the UK or in Iceland? Or does this not make a difference to prices?
Also has anyone on TT done the Golden Circle and Fontana Wellness Tour? Is it worth the extra money, in comparison to just the Golden Circle Tour?

Weather/Temp - website suggestions have told me to expect it around 4-5 degrees centigrade - an English Winter - but does wind chill need to be factored - do I need my ski jacket and my thermals?! ha ha!

It would be great to get some "traditional/local/Icelandic" restaurant recommendations too.

Lastly - potentially our return flight to the UK is at 6.45am - meaning we would need to be at the airport 4.45am - what time should we leave our hotel in Reyk, and how can we get to the airport so early in the morning?

Thanks so much in advance!! SO EXCITED!

No one here can predict the wind when you will be there in April - there will probably be strong winds some days and moments with little wind.

Use the "transfer bus" Flybus - it is THE way of getting to/from Keflavik airport if you do not rent a car. And yes they have HomePage in English - dead easy to Google and linked from everywhere incl the airports HomePage as well as Icelandairs homepage. They will also bring you to that crazy early departure you have selected.

Are you sure you want to eat traditional Icelandic food? Try to look up svið and hákarl.
You can get genuine skyr (and something like the stuff made in Europe and US), cod, and hotdogs (icelanders consume extreme amounts of pylsur - sausages) everywhere. Hangikjöt is fantastic

The best restaurants I have eaten in Iceland are The Fish Company.. http://www.fiskfelagid.is/English/About_FishCompany

and Grillmakadurinn

http://www.grillmarkadurinn.is/

Both are in central Reykjavik - expect to pay around 30 pounds just for a main dish.

April can be very cold in Iceland..so yes I would bring very warm clothes.
