I have two sons, ages 10 and 6. We have 7 nights in Iceland. 2 nights in Reykjavik and 5 nights in Selfoss. Any suggestions on what we should do while we are there? My boys love swimming, hiking and tennis. They aren't good at long car rides.

Thanks!
Penny

Hi Peneloperebecca,
we were one week in Selfoss and loved it for being a good base to discover the south and the west of Iceland. Selfoss has a large indoor swimming pool and Golden Circle as well as Reykjanes Peninsula aren't too far away (if you don't want to drive too long).
Hope this helps,
Burcu & Jan

There's good hiking in the Hengill area near Hveragerdi, a village a short distance from Selfoss. You can google down a hiking trail map. There are also lavatubes you can find to explore near Hveragerdi.

Selfoss isn't really a tourist town, it's more a living/working town surrounded by fields. But probably that means you will be able to find things like tennis there. In general you'll find more tourist-orientated things and interesting landscapes to explore around nearby Hveragerdi.
