I may spend a few days taking photographs on the beaches around Vik . Is it worth bringing a pair of knee high rubber boots for mucking around in the tides?

At the price of being shunnned and declared ready for an exorcism by the ultralight no checkin crowd: Unless you're walking or biking there I'd say take them. I do love a good beachcomb. More important really: Is your camera up to it? Saltwater spray does love to play havoc with electronics.

Eat strawberries. Watch sunset. Talk, kiss and dance. And always remember to bring dry socks.

Kim, thanks, My camera backpack already castes me as an untouchable by the ultralight crowd. Also, sadly I am traveling by SUV instead of on the roof of a bus in the Karakoram in Pakistan.

I have the Canon 5DMKII, which doesn't handle salt water spray well from personal experience. I have the Lens Coat Rain Sleeve for my camera, not sure if it will do the job.. I will look at some others

the beaches at Vík aren't a gentle tide pool kinda place- they're more roaring surf. If you're wading shin-deep in the water you're liable to get sprayed so much those boots aren't really gonna be useful IMO.
