I'm a swiss Gril and I'm already in Iceland (at the moment in Akureyri) and I'm looking for some people to travel with around Iceland. Would be great to hire a car together. I will stay on Iceland around 3 weeks.

I'm Dave from New York; I'm taking a trip by myself to Iceland and will be there 09/05 for 5 days. I've never been in Iceland and therefore I'm extremely excited and have so much I want to see. I haven't reserved a hostel, tour plans, rental car, etc..I intend to do all this on my arrival Sat morning. Since you are there and observing the current environment, would you recommend I make these plans ahead of time and if so do you have any recommendations on hostels(close to city and open environment to meet other travelers), car rentals, camping out, tours, etc? Through websites and travel books I had found a few hostels(Reykjavík City Hostel & Reykjavík Downtown Hostel) but according to the website they are booked for my first day of arrival and I'm not too sure what to do.I'm bringing a tent and sleeping bag but would like to stay at least my first night(Saturday) indoors since I don't know what to expect of the weather. I will have a phone and email accessible to me so if you would like to meet up and share some of your knowledge it would be much appreciated and I would be happy to exchange your assistance with a meal, drink and sharing a rental.
