If everything goes to plan – namely, no more volcanic ash clouds – we will be landing in Iceland in the beginning of June for a three weeks backpacking trip.

1. International Student Card (ISIC) or Hostelling International card (HI)? Which of these would be most useful, and where?
2. Which prepaid SIM card can be considered best?
3. How about a whale-watching tour? Which company would you recommend (where and for how much)?
4. Which treks would be considered Iceland's top three in your view?
