Hi! I'm new to LP, but my friend and I will be in Iceland for a week from March 31-April 6th. We have a tentative itinerary but not sure how we will be getting to our stops outside of Reykjavik. We are going to rent a car for at least part of our time there, but in order to make it more cost effective we want to see if anyone else would want to share a rental and join us on our adventures! As of now we're not planning on joining any tours. Here is what we're planning to see; dates and order are VERY flexible.

Þingvellir national park/MAR:
Silfra
Geysir & Strokkur
Gullfos
Bruarfoss

Skaftafell area:
Stay in Vik?
Skaftafell
Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon/beach
Svartifoss
Waterfalls on the way

Snæfellsjökull area:
Stay in Grundarfjordur or Stykkishólmur?
Snæfellsjökull National Park
Hvalfjordur
Hraunfossar Falls
Kirkjufell

We are also open to more ideas and visiting areas further from Reykjavik if time/budget allows. If our time and plans overlap with yours please let us know. We would love to have some awesome travel buddies!

Hey Emusha,

I recommend staying in a hostel the first night/nights in reykjavik, either Kex, bushostel or reykjavik backpackers.

I'm sure you can find someone there to join you in a rental car.
I had people at my car rental (www.gocarrental.is) yesterday who just met the day before and are now travelling around Iceland together.

Hope you'll have an awesome time!

Hey John! That's pretty much what we were thinking, but my friend is much more of a plan ahead-er than I am so we figured we'd check around before we left in addition to meeting people in Reykjavik. Thanks for the car rental recommendation! I hope you have an awesome trip too!

I think it will be a push to do Snæfellsness and Skaftafell in 6 days..it can be done but there will be a lot of driving involved. Also bear in mind early April can still be very cold, with a chance of snow as well. The lagoon at Jökulsarlon may not be open for boat tours at that time.

Maybe check out this blog for further info
