We rented a small jeep by Hasso car rental in Reykjavik because this seemed to be a cheaper alternative than the other common car rental agencies and was also recommended by Rough Guide.
We would strongly discourage you from booking with this company due to the following reasons:
- booking procedure is really customer unfriendly
You have to assure in various emails that you receive the right car with the correct insurance for the quoted price - location of the car rental agency is very inconvenient
it is outside Reykjavik and there is no sign on the main street, where you can find it - the cars are not well maintained
- problems with Mastercard
the self risk couldn't be blocked based on their information so it had to be charged in advance - no check of the car after we returned the car with us together
- NO RETURN OF THE SELF RISK
we were informed by telephone that we must have had an accident or that we had driven offroad (which is both not correct), because one plastic part under the car was reputedly broken. They already hat a quote from Nissan, how much it would cost to fix this item (after just two hours of the return) and this was exactly the amount, which would be covered by the self-risk. So we didn't receive it back.
