Hi everyone!

I used to use TT from the late 90's til about 5 years ago. Life has changed, but it's lovely to be back! :-) I lived in Hungary for years and when I was free I wandered around Eastern Europe. It's been almost 20 years since I was in Prague last!

I'm looking for some local advice on good Thai and Italian restaurants. I'm looking for the places where locals eat, funky/nice or outstanding decor, great food and a decent price (not cheap-eats though!), reasonably close to the centre…

Hello guys,
I will be travelling the Caucasus this month for 3 weeks, starting in Azerbaijan, then heading to Tbilisi only to catch the night train to Yerevan and then back to Georgia and fly out home to Hungary from Kutaisi.
I've read a lot about the Armenian border crossing with the Azeri visa and stamps in one's passport and I'm kinda prepared for being picked out for some nice conversation and being given a hard time before letting me enter. :)

What I don't know at all, though, is whether…

Is it possible to rent hiking poles in Valbona or in Shködr?

We'll be flying in from the United States. If we bring our own poles it will have to be as checked luggage - and I'd really rather not have to check any luggage.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I've just finished writing up the first of a three-part report of a trip made by car right across Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and on to Magadan in the summer and autumn of 2017. You may read the report here:

https://eurasiaoverland.com/2017/09/02/43i/

The trip starts in August, as I pick up a friend and together we cross from Poland into Kaliningrad and on into Lithuania along the beautiful Curonian Spit. Driving quickly across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, we enter Russia proper…

(in Bulgaria from 22 May to 31 May)

I have a flight to Sofia arriving on 22nd of May. I plan on renting an automobile on 24th and drive to Rila Monastery for that day, and then drive to Rila National Park and find a non camping accommodation in the park. I plan to hike Mt Musala and the hike around the 7 lakes (presume there will be snow on the mountain in May and around 7 C in temperature at that altitude?).

Need some opinion on the following:

  1. I want to spend 2 days in Plovdiv…

This summer we are planning a car trip (2 adults and 4 kids) around a few countries in the EU. Because of the small children (4 and 5 plus two teenagers) we don't want to deal with trains and buses. We are starting in Zurich Switzerland, then going to a few destinations in southern Germany, Austria, then north thru the Czech Republic and into Poland to visit family there. Then after back over to Germany and south back to Zurich Switzerland to fly home.

About 3 weeks total for this summer trip.

I am thinking of doing a hike from Kalofer to Karlovo in the beginning of June. This is described as a three-day hike in the Walking in Bulgaria’s National Parks guide. I want to do it in two days.
In the guide it is described like this:
Day 1: Kalofer to Hizha Ray, 16.5 km, 4 h 10 min
Day 2: Hizha Ray to Hizha Vasil Levski, 8.5 km, 3h 15 min
Day 3: Hizha Vasil Levski to Karlovo, 13 km, 3 h

I want to do it like this:
Day 1: Bus from Plovdiv to Kalofer, hike Kalofer to Hizha Ray
Day 2: Hike from…

Hello,
Am wondering if there are any wheelchair accessible trains that run from Kiev to Lviv. Flying would be another option, of course.

thanks

Hello,

I would like to drive from Bucharest to Odessa,
I see that there is ten kilometers obligatory by Moldova?

Have you already made this trip?
Unless I'm mistaken, the visa is not necessary for a French person to go to Moldova.

Is it possible to rent a car in Romania and leave it in Ukraine?
(at worst on the Romanian border - Moldova)

thanks in advance
