If you need to take a train in kiev , for example, to go to odessa for one day to another, ¿is it easy? ¿are there many queus in the station? ¿is it better if we buy them before?
We are planning to travel the country by train within 1 week,. Thta's why I'm asking.

¿Is it a safe country? ¿are people friendly or dangerous?
We are three girls going alone.
Also, ¿could you tell me what weather maywe expect beginning april?
thanks

I would like to know if trains for kiev to odessa and from kiev to crimea (yalta, sebastopol) are good, and also:

-time frequency
-price
-how many hours would it take fromkiev to those cities by train.

Or, would you recommend hiring a car?

we only have 8 days and want to visit kiev, crimea, odessa. Eventually chernobil and are open to other suggestions.
thanks

Hey all,

I am making a rather rushed last minute trip to Ukraine and will be left with a few days spare. I really wanted to go to Pripyat and Chernobyl, but my initial research has uncovered that I dont have enough time to arrange the permits necessary for visiting.... I only have about 7-8 working days left before I can go, and I have been told that this is not enough to secure the relevant permit.

Does anyone know if there is anyway around this even if you pay more money or arrange a private…

I just took the ferry from Odessa (Ilyichevsk) to Batumi,Georgia. Since I didn't see any other recent reports about the experience, thought I'd share mine.

I visited the Ukrferry website (www.ukrferry.com) and emailed them to inquire about the schedule. I ended up exchanging numerous emails with a man named Vladlen Tarasenko, who was incredibly helpful. The boat was scheduled to depart Ilyichevsk (near Odessa) every Thursday. He explained the process would be as follows: go to his office in…

Hi people,

We are visiting Ukraine later this year. I was reading the Sydney Morning Herald on-line this morning and in an article headed "An Old Bloc Party" dated 25 February 2012 it says:

Ukraine

This host nation is big, complex and has opened itself up to tourism in a half-hearted, almost wary manner. It's symptomatic of a country that's torn between East and West.

Nevertheless, visa restrictions for most countries (including Australia) have gone and budget airlines are gradually adding

Trying to organise a trip to a missile base from Kiev (highly recommended from lots of places/sources), but would like to see if anyone else is interested or has tips - it is too expensive for a lone traveller like me!

I am interested in going on the 6th of April.
Message me and I will forward info on who I would like to go through so we can have a cheap trip! (I would link direct but it may be against forum rules etc)

We are heading to Mongolia via Ukraine with our small offroad caravan and wondered if anyone had any tips. I see the LP guide does not recommend camping the the country - but does not say why not. We are assuming there will not be any campsites so if anyone knows any particularly good places to get off road (also in Russia) that would be helpful.

Thanks
Caz

We are planning to travelling through the Ukraine with our own vehicle. How do we get a visa for about a 3 week visit, the car is UK registered, the driver has both British and Australian passports, I have only an Australian passport. 14 years ago we got a 3 day transit visa (in Moscow) for us and our can without any problems and could have extended this in Kiev if we'd had the time to spare. Is this still possible? We prefer to camp as we are doing this as cheaply as possible. I have read a…
