Hello everyone!

I am currently studying in Prague and my spring break is coming up where a group of us will be going to Kyiv and making our way eventually to Bucharest. I have looked into all the train routes and know that I would probably have to go through Moldova (this is because I want to see Kamyanets-Podlisky). Yet I have been thinking that a car would be a more viable option to allow more flexibility, yet I am having trouble finding a rental car company that will allow me to pick up in Kyiv and drop off in Bucharest. Does anyone have any suggestions of companies that will allow that or if that will be even possible? Thank you all so much in advance!

I really doubt you can find any company who will let you go out of the country with a rented car. As soon as your reason for renting a car is visiting Kamyanets-Podlisky I would advise you to go there by train, then go by minibus to Chernivtsi and visit this nice old city, and then go to Bucharest by train again. It's the best solution I think.

ah that sounds like a good plan actually, the only transport I saw from KP to Bucharest was through Moldova, would this bus be something we get a ticket for there or should we book in advance?

No in-advance booking at all. It's a common minibus between K-P and Chernivtsi - "marshrutka". It departs every 30 minutes, if I recall right. The route takes a bit more than an hour.

Pirate - please reread what andrew has written.
Kyiv to Kamyanets-Podlisky by train
Kamyanets-Podlisky to Chernivitsi by minibus (they depart when full)
Chernivitsi to Bucharest by train (I am pretty sure that this train doesn't go through Moldova)

Use the bahn.de website for train schedules.

Chernivitsi is delightful; plan to spend a day or more there.

What is the earliest the bus leaves from KP to Chernivisti? I am looking at trains to Bucharest and they are saying they leave at 10:40am and I don't think we have time in our itinerary to stay overnight in Chernivisti

Cannot say exactly, but not later than at 7 am I think. You always can ask it at the station beforehand.
But I advise you to spend some time in Chernivtsi in any way. Everbrite is right, Chernivitsi is really delightful at spring.

So after looking everything over we have decided to stay a night in Chernivitsi! Now my concern is that we want to make it to Brasov the next day. I was looking and saw that the bus from Chernivitsi to Suceava is about 2 hours but the only train from Suceava to Brasov leaves around noon? Is this possible to do in one way? I just wasn't able to find the timetable from Chernivitsi to Suceava

Take the bus from Chernivtsi to Suceava. The train is painfully slow due to gauge change at the UA/RO border - it takes 6 hours, leaving Chernivtsi (or Chernovcy as it is spelled in the bahn.de online timetable) at 10:40.

While around Suceava it would be a miss not to see at least one or two of the painted monasteries of Bucovina (UNESCO heritage).

Would it be possible to make it from Chernivtsi to Brasov though in one day?
