Hi all,
can someone recommend a good hotel or appartment (not too pricy), central location preferred, as we are only 4 nights (28.12-01.01.) in kiev. we are 3 persons (2 adults + 1 kid).

Also any recommendations what to do (with kids) during this time?
thanks.

My kids, aged 0, 2, 6 and 8 when I visited, enjoyed boat trips down the river, swimming from the hydropark (summer only!), caves monastery, climbing up inside the mother kiev statue (not sure that's still open), souvenir hunting in adriyvsky uzviz, funicular railway, the open air architecture museum (pottery demos when we visited), the chernobyl museum, climbing on the tanks in the memorial park and the zoo.

I stayed in rented apartments but the firm I used 7 yeasrs ago is long defunct.

There are ZERO cheap hotels in Kiev. Well, actually a few do exist, but they don't like to rent to "rich foreigners". That means YOU! The only cheapish hotel that will rent to foreigners is the Boryspil Airport Hotel, but it's a terrible location (takes almost 1 hour to get downtown from there).

I also cannot help with apartment rentals as the people I knew who did this no longer live in Kiev. Do a web search. I very strongly discourage advance payment as the better rental agencies should not insist on this. If you must do it, do it only by credit card so you can at least protest the charge if necessary. Ukrainians are unfortunately not the most honest people on earth and while not common, bait and switch tactics are also not unheard of either. If some agency insists only on a bank transfer or Western Union for advance payment, then you need to find another agency.

#2 - I reported you to the moderator with the following comment attached.

"Ukrainians are unfortunately not the most honest people on earth" - is an unacceptable defamatory generalization.

we have appartments with lower prices... even 70 - 80$ but they a busy for New Year holidays.
Any way quality/price difference between hotel you have booked and appartments is rather big... hotel lose...
Even transfer service they provide is very high.

to backi - if you need transfer from airport say. You ll get special price 160uah = 20$
