Hi everyone, I'm a young Canadian traveler planning on visiting Gaziantep for a few days around mid-June and I have a few questions.
-Is it safe? If not, what are the actual threats, since I've read on this forum and elsewhere that it isn't completely safe, but I haven't heard of legitimate reasons backing this statement.
-Which hotels would you recommend? My budget is limited but I can spend around 75TL maximum per night.

A couple specific questions about the Van airport environment and getting into town. It looks like the airport doesn't have an ATM or money exchange. I don't have much Turkish lira left from my last trip. We'll be arriving around 9 a.m. Do you think taxi drivers will accept dollars or euros? Also, what's the taxi scene there for catching one and about how much will it cost to get downtown?

Thank you for all the input on my itinerary thus far. Since everyone has been so helpful, I thought I’d try again. Hope I’m not being too greedy :) I’ve narrowed our itinerary down to two (similar options)

Have just got back from a venue I didn't know existed. In London. The Yunus Emre Enstitusu (Institute). It's an amazing resource in the heart of London, with many free concerts, etc. Which is how I found out about it, having been invited to a concert there this evening. I arrived in plenty of time, to be directed to a room laid out with pre-concert refreshments - nice. Then a musical performance by Dr Razia Sultanova, of Uzbek music.

Hi - can someone point me to a website for accurate weather in Turkey? I'm guessing the government maintains one through the ministry of environment or some such thing (in Turkish) that shows weather and conditions across the country. Or if there's an alternative site that's even more accurate and reliable, I'd like to know about that one too.

Think I have finally come up with itinary forthis years trip:-
Fly Istanbul. Stay 3 nights. Take Dogu express to Erzurum (again but we really enjoyed it last time). Stay Erzurum 1 night, hire car and drive to Barhal (stay 2 night) and the Kars 2 nights (visit Ani).Drive back to Erzurum and take overnight bus to Amasya (stay 3 nights).If we want to hire a car from Erzurum to go to Barhal and then Kars what is the best route and what is the road like? Also does any one have any recommendations…
