Hello, I've been reading up on all things Istanbul but wanted to get some input from this lovely forum. I'll be in Istanbul next week for a few days and I am interested in street art, wine bars, book stores and tattoo parlors. I'll be staying in near Taksim square and can't wait to explore. I have been recommended to hire a car in Turkey to travel from Istanbul via Sulcuk, Bodrum, Pammukale, Egidir and Konya to Cappadocia. I will be going to to Turkey for the first time in November, for about three weeks, and would appreciate some recommendations on my itinerary. I'll be solo for the first 16-17 days, and would be meeting a friend in Cappadocia to end the trip, and then back to Istanbul to fly back home. I'll have a total of 23 days to explore Turkey.

We are just finishing a very interesting trip through this area. We flew to Istanbul from the US, and took the high speed train to Ankara the next day. The train was very modern, and travelled most of the route at high speed, however there was a two hour metro and taxi ride from downtown Istanbul to the train station.
