Many of my friends think I'm an alcoholic; I prefer "alcohol enthusiast." Everyone needs a hobby, right? Anywho, the GF and I will be heading to Turkey and Greece from August 2nd to the 20th, making a loop from Istanbul to Bozcaada, Assos, Bergama, Hios, Lesvos, and then back to Istanbul. Advice on skipping any of those locations/making sure to see others is appreciated, but here's the real issue: I can drink pretty much anything (anyone ever had a cement mixer?) EXCEPT anisette flavored…

Hi,
Another questions about mountaineering in Turkey.
We would like to climb Ararat, but not only Ararat. I've checked in the net and there are some mountains that look fine: Mt SUPHAN and NEMRUT. Do anybody know this two mountain?. Do they worth?.
If somebody recomend us an area for treking and climbing, we will be very thankfull. We have 10 days to climb Ararat and others.

Basically - don't stay there. Even if the rates look attractive online, the room you get isn't worth the 50 or so euros you will be paying. Old towels, carelessly cleaned room and a window looking out on to an airvent. You can find much much better for the same price or less just by looking around the area.
If you are arriving late at night, maybe pay a little extra for the first night and get somewhere better.
Hi all,
I will be backpacking in Turkey for 3 weeks this August. I already have a rough idea where I want to go; places like Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, etc.. I travel budget and generally like to meet local people, see interesting sites and go on the road less travel. However, I am meeting a friend at the border to Syria after 3 weeks so I want to end up in the south of southeast. Any suggestions and recommendations?
Thanks in advance

Sorry I left out a few words in my last. One sentence should read "from the relatively new otogar some 8.5 Kms from Iderne" then on to Plovdiv
I seek advice on the following. Wife and I will be in Istanbul shortly for a few days. We then plan to go to Plovdiv, Bl, via Edirne. I'm ok with catching the bus from the Otogar in Istanbul to Edirne. Bit less frightening than it was the first time.. man its a big bus terminal. After spending a couple of days in Edirne we want to continue on a bus from Edirne to Plovdiv. My QUESTION is: is it possible to catch an Intercity bus in Iderne to Plovdiv from the relatively new otogar 8.5 Kms to…

Eldest son (17) is off on his first trip with a group of friends in a couple of weeks. Due to a couple of jobs being cancelled to to the wet weather in the UK he won't have all his spending money in the bank until a couple of days after he goes. He can access the cash using a Cirrus ATM. Are there any of these in Kalkan (I can't find any on the website, but have found that town names can be different in the past) or does the bank of Mum & Dad need to sub him until he gets back. It would also be…
