hi there!
i am a 23 year old female hitch-hiker from norway. i am currently in istanbul and i seek a companiýon to go through Syria, Libanon and Ýsrael to Jerusalem. i have fýnally realized that these countries are too risky for me to hitch-hike in alone. so if you are going approximately the same way and dont mind lots of pollution, contact me on r-gylv@online.no - i would be very happy to join forces!!
yours, Ragnhild
I want to drive from Rome to Istanbul. It's a 23 hour drive or 1,400 miles. I'd probably take my time and stretch the journey out over 3 or 4 days.
The big problem is I can't find a car rental place that allows me to rent in Western Europe and drop off in Turkey. I need help! I really, really, realllllly want to do this.
I'll be departing Rome in December.
Istanbul is the most colourful place, I have ever been. Arriving there I had to take in too many impressions. My travel companion was so excited about the city, that he marked all the places I should visit in my guidebook – basically all the pages were marked in the end. He was absolutely right, you can’t miss anything.
The most incredible thing for me is that you can pass from Europe to Asia in 5 minutes. You go out for a drink in Asia, get tipsy, than end up dancing in a cool bar in Europe. One…

I´m very flexible, relaxed, love close contact with locals, like to spend most of my time in the countryside. My main interest is nature, culture and language! Please contact me soon annika_j-m…
Hi, I've just booked a flight to Athens and I'm wanting to head to a greek island or two before crossing to Turkey. I'm wondering what island would be the best to do this from... I'd like settle down for a few days with a nice beach, good food and beautiful landscape before crossing... can you recommend a beautiful island that is a good crossing point to turkey?
Hopefully LP10 now has this information but LP9 say's it is difficult to get to Mt Nemrut from Tatvan which is not true. can someone tell me whether this is in LP10 as if it is not I will post again to the ammendments.
Go to the Vangolu office in the main street and ask for Memet or just turn up at about 9/9.30 am. Memet is an excellent guide who will take you into the crater for 20YTL. It is one of the best experiences I've had in Turkey and I've covered a great deal of the country.
Memet…
I am still getting PMs about the subject and wanted to refer them to my post in this branch and suddenly realised that I have not made a country specification when I posted it .Sorry about the repeat post, you can just ignore it..:)
I am frequently asked about the gay venues of Istanbul by PM. Although I do not live in Istanbul and I do not answer PMs unless they are involved in emergency situations I found this in the latest TimeOut Guide. Here is a list, courtesy of the " Time Out…
Me again, as the flight to Dalaman seems to work out cheaper than to Antalya I need some information about Dalamn aswell...
I might arrive in Dalaman Saturday at 21.40 but would like to travel on, I geuss that there will be no buses going to marmaris oder bodrum that late?
So can you reccomend a cheap hostel in Dalaman and how do I get to the center at that night time?
Is Dalaman worth staying couple of days?
Thanks again!
Nicola
We are planning to go to Turkey for 22 days during the summer time. We do have a lot on our itinerary but have included some leisure / relaxing times. We are all in our early 30's so we are active and still have energy to do a lot - there is just so much we want to see and do and not enough time.
Anyway, would appreciate some feedback on our itinerary, for everything except Istanbul which we are OK with.
We would also like suggestions on hotels and restaurants. As for hotels, we plan to do a…

we are looking to go away end of september, we would like a week to relax somewhere, though some night life, restaurants, etc, near by would be great!
maybe a small resort or hotel, or aparthotel with a pool or very close to the beach.
dont have a very large budget, so something on the cheaper end would be great!
looking forward to all your advice.. small, local rentals welcome...
also, would love to get a chance to experience some cultures, perhaps a good market, any advice…
