I'm not concerned about beachs (quality of the sand etc) but mainly the swimming. Where is a good place in Turkey to go swimming in Oct?Heard Kas is a nice place.

We will be traveling in Turkey entirely during Ramazan, returning to Istanbul on October 11, and departing on the 15th. I have heard travel is difficult during the end of Ramazan and things may be closed, so my questions relate to this.

From what I understand, Ramazan ends on October 12. Should traveling back to Istanbul on the 11th be a problem? We will be coming from Bursa with a stop in Iznik, by bus and then catamarran.

I'm backpacking around turkey in a few weeks time and I really want to visit the south east region. Does anyone know of backpacker type budget/shoestring places in: gaziantep, diyarbakir, mardin and/or sanliurfa because the accomodation listed in lp's new guide only shows slightly more expensive places. Staying in those hotels would cost more than hostel accomodation in big western european cities!! Thanks

Hearing that gulets have many personalities. dont want to get stuck on one with the " wrong crowd". Would like to rule out the 20-30 something- ishes party boat . Hoping for " fellow travelers " a bit adventurous and active , hoping not just couples, but that would be okay. Perhaps starting point might influence this??? I'm planning a two-week trip to Turkey from next week, and two weeks is not going to be nearly enough!

Everyone tells me I must not miss Cappadocia, so I'd like to know if there's a bus route that would let me travel thorugh the region and see the landscape as I go by, even if I don't have time to actually stay in the area.
