We're looking for a holiday house to rent in the Izmir/Kusadasi area for a week in October, plenty of options available so it seems. What would be a good town to choose with a decent beach (hoping it will be warm enough in October...) and not too touristy. We'll rent a car so staying a bit out of the way is no problem.

Davutlar is an outlying area of Kusadasi - more a relaxed family atmosphere. Google earth - follow the Road south on the Soke Road then follow the coast line around towards Milli National park. There are dolmus out that far however a car would be ideal. If you do stay in Davutlar on the road out on the crest of the hill, left hand side among the butchers there are two particularly good restaurants well patronised by local people. Enjoy.

When you really want to go to the beach in october, you would better rent a house in Cyprus, for instance in the Kyrenia region or near Paphos. Wheater in Kusadasi can be fine in october, but it can also be rainy and stormy. Antalya would be a better deal, but Cyprus is still better.
