Hi all,

In July I was thinking of flying to Istanbul and driving down to Antalya. The main purpose for this would be to some cool towns, villages and ruins along coast but also to stop to go canoeing in as many places as possible. We'd probably be away for about 10 days, so where would be the best places - we do not own canoes so would need to hire them.

My friend isn't the the most comfortable driver, so have just done a quick search on train travel but this doesn't look ideal for the kind of trip I've got planned, so is there another train route that goes along the coast, or would car be pretty much the only option to do this? (He'll be most uncomfortable with travelling out of Istanbul, so I suppose we could hire a car from Bandirma??)

Thank you,

Adam

Why not just get a connecting flight onwards to ?The better canoeing and sea kayaking spots are along the coast between Antalya and Fethiye and you can hire canoes at all the villages and small towns along the coast. There are also great bus connections so you can easily bus hop from place to place ,eventually ending up in Fethiye from where you can take the Havaş airport bus to Dalaman airport to fly back to Istanbul.
In addition to canoeing you could also go white water rafting too if you fancy an adrenelin day.
This would cut out the expense and hassle of driving for someone who doesn't sound that keen on the idea :)
There are no rail links for the south coast I'm afraid.
