We'll be based in Sultanamet and want to move on to Konya by train.

The preferred train departs at Istanbul Pendik on -7:30 in the morning. Is this a practical time for the local transport from Sultanamet to Pendik, in the sense that it is not too early for l;ocal transport, or in the sense that we'd have to get up in the middle of the night?

If it is too unpractical, we'll consider the one departing at 17:45.

Thanks in advance,
Meeuw

You could take the 10:30 fast train towards Ankara and change at Polatlı for the 14:07 fast train from there to Konya.

Eskisehir is also a lovely place to spend a few hours en route. The 10.30 train (and others)also stops there.

I'd be inclined to go for the later train at 10.30.Getting from Sultanahmet -on the European side,to Pendik on the Asian side is a bit of a pain and time consuming.Public transport doesn't start until 06.00 and even at that you could struggle to arrive for 07.30 in morning traffic.

10:30 is an excellent time, I had not spotted that one yet.
Thanks all for your advice.

If you change high-speed trains at Polatlı, you have 10 minutes between them, you might need to change platforms.

I see the new station for the high-speed trains is out of town at Polatlı - https://goo.gl/maps/wNgm2
