That's great.

We are staying at the Old Town Stone House in Goreme- on Booking.com it has received 9.7 rating and seems amazing though it doesn't seem to have a website of its own and has only 3 reviews on tripadvisor. If anyone knows about this place,it would be great (bit of a long shot, I guess).

The one thing I find a bit odd about the hotel is that there are zero photos on booking.com of the view from the terrace.

All other places with good views- such as Kookaburra, where I once stayed make a point of putting photos of the view on this website!

Look at these photos-

Ihlara valley is a quite ordinary valley and the churches you can find here are less interesting than those ones in the Goreme open air museum. Disappointing for me. Selime monastery, close to Ihlara valley, is unmissable.
Mustafapasa is a very beautiful village.
Pasabag is a must see whilst Zelve open air museum is set in a beutiful position, but the churches here show almost no decoration.
I would suggest you to hike in the valleys: Love, Red and Rose valleys are really beautiful and unique.

Interesting, raki_man- there are however a couple of photos of the terrace views on Tripadvisor. Indeed the views from the Kookaburra seem significantly better than from the Old Town Stone House.

Thanks for the information all! Of course there's an incredible amount of things to see and some serious shortlisting is in order with just 4 nights.

I would like some variety- we're also staying in Istanbul before and after Cappadocia so I don't want to get jaded with the amazing churches. So giving Ihlara Valley a miss, and doing one of those walks seems a good idea.

Göreme to Uçhisar is one of the standard valley walks - along Pigeon Valley.
A good description of it here - http://www.captivatingcappadocia.com/cappadocia-pigeon-valley/
That website has a lot of useful info about Cappadocia.
