Hi, I want some advise on where to stay in Istanbul as I'm coming over in a couple of weeks. I want a nice hotel and to feel safe in my surroundings as being a single young woman. I also want to be close to nightlife. Any recommendations?

For staying over?Does this mean this is just a single night visit? If so then find a hotel in Taksim, ideally close to Taksim Square for convenience of transport.Ortaköy is nice but too far out to be convenient.
Frankly anywhere in Istanbul is safe for a single woman provided she is sensible and doesn't take silly risks but Taksim will be better for you if this is just for 1 night stay over.

Okay, so look for hotels along Istiklal Avenue or Sıraselviler Street. Both of these head off south from Taksim Square and so are convenient but quieter than being directly on the square which is always full of traffic :(
What sort of price range per night are you looking at?Maybe I can offer some suitable suggestions.

That is a generous budget for Istanbul so you'll be able to choose somewhere very nice. Here are a few to take a look at-
Witt Suites just off Istiklal Avenue
Nicoleport Hotel just off Taksim
Taximist Hotel just north of Taksim Square
and also nearby Stories Hotel Kuloğlu
Innpera Hotel on Sıraselviler Street
Mirrors Hotel, just off Istiklal Avenue(about half way down)
Odda Hotel,just off Istiklal
Stories Hotel Karakol, just off Istiklal Avenue(about half way down)
Hotel Villa Zurich in Cihangir just off Sıraselviler Street(stayed here myself a couple of years back)
The strangely named :) House of Tulpan Hotel just off Taksim between Istiklal and Sıraselviler.

All of these are within easy walking distance of Taksim Square ,all are smaller, boutique style hotels where you'll be known as a guest and not just a name in the register and staff will look out for you.I'm sure all should fall well within your budget too and I,as a woman, would feel comfortable staying alone in any of them

As for clubs and bars you can probably go into any if you feel confident enough but I'm probably too old to give decent recommendations now :) Hopefully younger, more hip members can help you.God,it pains me to write that haa haa haa!
