Yes, lots of country and city maps are available in Istanbul, even in bookshops at the airport. You will have to pay to get a decent one, though - anything free is crap.

Agree with cochradi, but from your profile, you have plenty of time to get a good map. The ones we always bought were "Euro cart" published in Germany. At the bottom of the map was the words "RV VERLAG."

Have you looked online at the viamichelin.com website?

If you want to do a search yourself, search for things that say 'Karayollari' (highway route) and 'Harita' (Map).

Just back from a trip of 3 weeks to the eastern part of Turkey. I used the 1 : 1,100,000 map of Reise Know How (a German company) and was very satisfied with this detailed map.

Unsure if you are able to buy this map in Turkey (I bought it in NL).

It's also well worth doing a few screen prints from Google Earth. Granted, some of it is a bit out of date but it gives you a better idea of the topography.
