Hi
I want to do this section (Karaoz - Cirali/Olympos) and stop at either Ulupinar or Tekirova. Does anyone know how long this takes on 8-9 hours of walking a day?
Also, are there frequent buses to Fethiye from these places?
Thanks
Daphna

Earlier this year we walked 9 days of the Way starting at Fethiye so haven't personally done the stretch you wish to do. I have checked Kate Clow's book and it would appear that you could walk it in 2 days. It really depends on your fitness level and what gear you are carrying. Please note that I could not see Ulupinar or Tekirova on my copy of the LW walk map or through a quick scan of Kate's book.
Note that the book is quite necessary especially as the way marks can on occasion disappear or are hard to find. Most days we had a bit of challenge finding them.
Lots of buses from Karaoz and to the main road for the Cirali or Olympus turnoff.
You could check the walkers' forum on the Lycian Way site.

Hmmm... that's strange, I have both the book and the map and I see both Ulupinar and Tekirova in the book and on the map, maybe one of us has an older edition or something?
I just wasn't sure how accurate the time estimation in the book is, and since I am pressed for time because I need to be back in Fethiye after 3 and a half days of walking I wanted to be sure it was more or less o.k.
Thanks for your help!

hi
I have the 2000 edition of the book and its accompanying map. And yes - I now see them - I hadn't checked the alternative route.
We thought the time estimates were spot on for us carrying full packs and water. Some walkers did comment to us however that the times were based on carrying light day packs.
Enjoy the walk.
