Hi, we are planning to walk Lycian way from Fethiye to Patara beach in April 2015. We are in good condition and I was wondering how long does it take from Fethiye to Patara beach? We don't have GPS with us. Where to buy/eat food on the way? What are the troubles on this part of the way?
Thank you for any kind of good advice,
Vesna

You should buy the official guidebook with the map.
Fethiye to Pydmai: possible in 3 days. The trail section from Pydmai to Patara is not the best section, so you could take a taxi, then the bus.

We recently walked 3 sections of the Lycian Way in the Adrasan area. With the help of trail information cards from the Ottoman Palace Hotel in Adrasan and using our GPS we were able to follow the route markings. If the sections you are planning on walking are anything like the ones we did you will have to be careful with the markings and instructions. On several occasions we backtracked to find the last correct markings as there are numerous other markings to confuse the issue. I agree with willemspie that getting the official guidebook would be beneficial. We had the use of the cel phone to call for help or clarification on the route but you likely will not have that option.

What Gps app did you use? There are a few on the market (some obviously better than others) that are much better than guidebooks and much lighter to carry.

We were using an older Garmin GPS that my husband had downloaded the free Openstreet maps onto. It worked very well for what we required. Hope this helps.

Wow thanks for that quick response, wasn't expecting that! I have helped build an app for Lycian Way , I was being nosey to see if I made a connection to someone using it. Did you post a blog about your trip anywhere?

Yes, about the blog, westcoasthikers. wordpress.com

We only hiked a few sections of the Lycian Way and because we use only wifi when travelling we can only access the Internet when at a place that provides it.

Offline maps are a huge benefit to being on a trail, any useful app in today's market should include them.

I checked out your blog, great stuff!
