Please help me with a restaurant recommendation or two in Izmir. I have 3 days and would like to try some good Turkish food- nothing fancy , just something beyond the usual tourist fare I usually find. Any particular dishes I should try?

Izmir is famous for its dishes cooked with olive oil and they are everywhere plus Izmir is a fish city,hope you like seafood.
I do not know where your hotel is located but if you go to Kordon which is the watwefront street of Alsancak you will find countless restaurants serving various types of food.

yeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhh..... izmir seafood is the BEST. there is a little fish restaurant in bostanli called olta that serves the best calamari IN THE WORLD. and another one called sirince balik evi but thats a little more pricey and they dont serve raki. both are around the bostanli cami.

in limanreis there is a fish restaurant called "Niyazi Baba" you should try, really delicious.

in Kemeralti opposite of the Kemeralti camii there is a restaurant called Ay Ipek, you can have delicious kebabs there.
