thanks again for all the fantastic info this site has. As a retired first time traveller from Australia, I couldn't have been helped more.
but to my final decision :- What is the concessus of the best of the following pensions in relation to :- VALUE FOR $$$, COMFORT, HELPFUL MANAGEMENT WITH
TOURS ETC, CLOSE TO ALL MAJOR SIGHT-SEEING , WITHIN SHORT STROLL TO GOOD LOCAL EATING PLACES, ETC
out of the following :- "SIDE", "NAYLA PALCE", "ANTIQUE", AND "APRICOT" ????????
bless you all

I have used the SIde Hotel and Pension 4 or 5 times. always enjoyed it- nice range of rooms and prices, clean, friendly staff, great rooftop terrace, close to Aya Sofiya. Don't have any experience with the others

Apricot!

I returned last week from Istanbul and stayed in Apricot. Squeeky clean rooms. Modern brand new (at least it looks new) bathrooms. Bright white crispy linen. GREAT breakfast on terrace. Internet (dedicated computer for guests). Working AC. a few steps from Blue Mosque, many restaurants close by. (In istanbul you are never far from a restaurant)

I also stayed in Sebnem (around the corner from apricot) for a few dollars less with the same benefits, but just not as good as apricot. (I would still recommend Sebnem, but Apricot just had that extra touch for a few extra $$$)

I like the Apricot Hotel but think its alittle more expensive than the others. Breakfast on the Terrace each morning is GREAT. I guess you have looked at their site at www.apricothotel.com. My wife and i are both retired aussies and will be in Istanbul again in mid oct on our way to Bulgaria and Romania. We are trying the Niles Hotel near the Grand Bazaar this time for a change.
