Hello, my son (adult) and I are meeting in Istanbul early July. Would appreciate a hotel recommendation. I am looking for eclectic over style. We are both well traveled. Any advise would be helpful. I haven't been in Istanbul since 1973.

Since 1973???What kept you away for so long?You'll see...one or two changes in that time haa haa.Which area of the city would you prefer to stay?The historic peninsula around Sultanahmet and the old city?or maybe around Galata or even up in modern Taksim?
Knowing this will help to cut down the huge list of possible choices.Also just a rough idea of budget would be helpful too.

Since 1973 too! You're going to find the town very changed! My first trip to Ist. was in1979 and since it's not the same town.

Not sure of your budget, but we really like the tiny Emre Hotel in lower Sultanahmet above the Cankurtaran train station.
