Rozy - one very simple reason: the schedule won't suit us (of the toros express, that is). we'll arrive in istanbul on sunday at 11 am, the train leaves on sunday morning. so really thinking of taking the bus at night. leave around 11pm, get to adana in 12 hours. even though the train is cheaper, there's probably no way of getting out of adana at around 6 pm when the train gets in. the result being that we'd spend the money saved on transporatation on accommodation instead. plus lose a whole lot of time. so probably gonna have loads of fun fishing around at the otogar for the best price :)
thanks for all the advice

No contest:
Bus - seat only, no beds, no restaurant, and it's probably against the rules to bring your own beer.
Train - reclining seats and sleeping berths available, private sleeper rooms available, restaurant car, bring your own wine or beer if you like, no problem
