Hi there,
I'm staying in Istanbul with my girlfriend for 4 nights at the end of september and was hoping that someone might be able to advise on accomodation. We're looking to spend €60-100 a night so does anyone know any must stay at hotel/hostel/apartments?
Many thanks,
Cromar

You didn't mention what you plan to do but if this is your first time then I suggest you find a place to stay in Sultanahmet. The Blue mosque, Ayasofya, Topkapi , hippodrome, undergroud cistern are all in very close proximity , the bazaars are also just +/- 15 mins walk away .

The Apricot Hotel is in a GREAT location like 4/5 minutes walk from the blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace. Cistern etc. You'll find it at www.apricothotel.com A very good buffet breakfast with eggs and bacon to order etc come with the price. I would stay there again but wife and I will stay at the Hotel Niles , www.nileshotel.com for a change in October. Niles is NOT as good a location at the Apricot but looks a slightly better hotel and costs a little more accordingly. Niles is a couple of minutes from the Grand Bazaar and two maybe 3 tram stops from Sultanahmet where many of the tourist Icons are..Also recommend you have a look at www.turkeytravelplanner.com This site is EXCELLENT for ANY visitor to Turkey. Hope this helps. Surprisingly the Apricol is located on a quiet street but close to everything. It is surrounded by many other Hotels/Hostels. Another good choice for location etc is the Poem Hotel. Not stayed there but had a look inside a couple of years ago and looked VERY nice. Again its up in price to the Apricot but well within your price range. I think you will find the Poem at www.poemhotel.com . Its certainly shown in the Turkey Travel Planner

awesome, that's a great help ganegstrasse, cheers!
if anyone has got any other recommendations they'd be much appreciated...

Hi,
I agree with gran. I stayed in Apricot in July 07 and was very satisfied with it. I also stayed in Sebnem "just around the corner". It is slightly cheaper than Apricot. There is very little difference between the two, except that Apricot's breakfast is better and they have a dedicated computer for internet use. (Sebnem offer their reception computer for use by guests) Both websites do not over promise. I recommend both hotels.

We stayed at the Marmara Guesthouse - excellent place, price & location - would deffo stay there again!
Most sites are in Sultanahmet & we loved staying in that area. Everything was within walking distance. Fantastic place…
