I have just learnt that the Abrahams Path organisation have now released a hiking programme for Nemrut and surrounding countryside. This includes downloadable maps and GPs files.

In spite of what is happening elsewhere in the southeast Nemrut area is still considered to be a safe area and I know from the number of questions on here that people are still looking to visit.I'm sure many would like to hike the area but choose to take local tours as they haven't had access to trail details before. And of course yet others have no idea what else there is to see there other than Nemrut itself.
Plans are also underway to try to organise hiking tours there too and I'll post up any info I learn about that.

Thanks so much for this post. We've looked at the Abraham Path website and it looks very comprehensive. Our next trip to Turkey will definitely include this part of the country so it is nice to see other hiking options in that area.
