Hi.
I would like to ask if Hasankeyf will be still visible in mid-August 2015 or if it will be already submerged. Do I risk to visit a ghost town ?
Thanks.

The latest information I can find about the dam is that construction was delayed due to a work stoppage but has since resumed. I continue to read reports here from tourists who have visited. I seem to remember that last one mentioning that much of the site is now closed because of falling rocks and other hazards.

Yes, I know, but it is the only period I have a break. I think I can survive the heat..at least, I hope so :-)
I was there in August 2011. Heat was quite bearable. I think the 'falling rocks' and closed site/s will refer mainly if not solely to the old fort, which was officially closed when i was there (but I got in and wandered around anyway.)
DO stay there overnight - at Hasankeyf Hasbahçe (directions - facing the entrance to Hasankeyf motel and the bridge, turn right and walk about 2-300 metres) which is a little paradise.
I believe they do dinner as well as their amazing all-inclusive breakfast, but I'd walk along the riverside, past the main road through to Batman and eat in one of the little restaurants facing the river.
